Leaders help organizations understand this big picture (or what the box cover looks like) and how to put the puzzle pieces together to get there in the best way possible.
Kouzes and Posner (1987) offered their Jigsaw Puzzle Principle wherein it is easier to put the puzzle together if you can see what is on the box cover.
With some theories, the focus is on the needs of the business on the process (Theory X) and sometimes the focus is on the needs of the workers (Theory Y).
